When it comes to general maintenance and cleaning of your handmade outdoor wooden furniture you can use wood polishers and all purpose anti-bacterial cleaners, simply stay clear of any abrasive products or scrubs.
To ensure your outdoor furniture always stays in its best condition we recommend you apply a layer of clear wax every 6-12 months or as and when required.
How to Clean Your Wooden Garden Furniture
During the summer months we’d recommend lightly brushing down your furniture to remove any loose debris and cobwebs, and cleaning as and when required. However, after your furniture has with withstood the more challenging conditions of the winter, we’d recommend thoroughly cleaning your outdoor furniture.
Gently wash your wooden garden furniture with warm soapy water. Then take a wood cleaner and cloth and wipe the furniture down, removing any dirt or markings from the furniture. Finished by re-apply the required tinted hard wax oil and/or polishing wax to bring your wooden outdoor furniture back to life after a winter in the garden.
Sand Down to Remove Stains
If the furniture has succumbed to some stubborn stains that can’t be removed with a wood cleaner than gently sand the affected area before re-applying the tinted hard wax oil and polishing wax.
Don’t Use Strong Chemical & Pressure Washers
Please note, strong chemicals can cause damage to the reclaimed wood, so unless absolutely required, keeping it simply with warm soapy water is always best. Additionally, keep the pressure washer away from the reclaimed wood furniture. Although it may seem tempting to blast away any dirt, the forceful nature of the spray can damage the structure of the wood causing it to weaken and splinter much easier.
Use an Outdoor Furniture Cover
As well as protecting and preserving your wooden outdoor furniture directly, we would recommend using a suitable outdoor furniture cover throughout the winter months as well as during severe weather conditions. This will help to ensure your outdoor wooden furniture really does last for years to come.
