A Guide to Reclaimed Wood Kitchen Furniture
A kitchen can be one of the most-used rooms in your house - it certainly is in ours! Our daily lives are often centred around food: we wake up with breakfast, we enjoy a lunch break, and the day ends with dinner. And whether you’re at home for all of these meals, or just some of them, you need a space which makes cooking a breeze and eating your food even better.
Our reclaimed wood kitchen furniture is handmade, eco-friendly and sophisticated, with a range of styles and finishes to choose from to fit your needs, whether your kitchen is large enough to fit a breakfast bar and a dining table, or compact with a need for hidden storage space. Take a look at some of our pre-designed products here, but feel free to get in touch to discuss a design just for you!
What is Reclaimed Wood Kitchen Furniture?
Our range of reclaimed wood kitchen furniture covers just about everything you could need in a kitchen, from stylish kitchen storage solutions to breakfast bar chairs and dining tables. Our kitchen furniture is made-to-order from high-quality reclaimed wood, which is timber that has been removed from its original application and repurposed - in this case, into kitchen furniture for you.
Why Choose Reclaimed Wood Kitchen Furniture?
Reclaimed wood kitchen furniture is durable and lasts a lifetime.
It’s made from high-quality wood and is built to withstand decades of wear and tear. There is a high level of craftsmanship that goes into building reclaimed wood furniture, so whilst there may be a higher upfront cost than if you bought a desk made from MDF or veneer, the long lifespan helps to save you money in the long run.
Reclaimed wood kitchen furniture is beautiful.
The natural grains, colours, and textures of the wood shine through, and this is even more significant in reclaimed wood kitchen furniture which features historical scuff marks, nail holes and hammer indents which have been lovingly restored.
Reclaimed wood kitchen furniture is eco-friendly.
Every piece is made from repurposed planks of quality wood which would otherwise have ended up in landfill. A huge amount of waste is also generated when low-quality furniture is made from non-recyclable, non-durable materials, so choosing solid wood kitchen furniture which will last a lifetime is the eco-friendly choice in more ways than one.

Traditional Reclaimed Wood Kitchen Furniture
- Embraces traditional, classic features including ornate details, carvings, and brass hardware

Modern Reclaimed Wood Kitchen Furniture

- Focuses on clean lines and simple shapes
- Prioritises functionality and an uncluttered appearance through the use of hidden storage
Rustic Style Reclaimed Wood Kitchen Furniture

- Often includes features like live edges, visible grain, and wrought iron hardware
Industrial Style Reclaimed Wood Kitchen Furniture
- Combines metal and wood to create a vibe reminiscent of old factories and warehouses - rugged and raw
- Often features exposed hardware and raw edges, as well as old hammer marks and nail holes
- Utilises sharp, clean angles to provide a striking look without losing functionality
Customising Your Handmade Kitchen Furniture
Our high-quality solid wood kitchen furniture benefits from the fact it is not mass produced, and is instead carefully handmade to order. Whilst we sometimes offer ready-to-ship handmade furniture, most of our pieces begin their transformation from planks to products after you’ve placed your order. This means we can customise it to your desires, including the dimensions, shape, finish, and frame.
Cool-toned finishes like Belgium Grey are a fantastic choice for industrial or minimalist styles of furniture. Stains like dark oak and walnut bring a layer of sophistication to your kitchen. For more ideas and inspiration regarding your furniture’s finish, view our full Finish & Colour Guide as well as our Guide to Stained Wood Furniture.
As well as finishes, you also have a choice of table legs when designing your perfect kitchen dining table. Our range of table leg designs include those both made from wood and metal, and include:
- X-Frame table legs
- Farmhouse Pedestal table legs
- Hairpin frame table legs
- Square table legs
- Trapezium table legs
- A-Frame table legs
- V-Frame table legs
How To Clean & Maintain Reclaimed Wood Kitchen Furniture
Dust your reclaimed wood kitchen furniture regularly with a soft, dry cloth to keep it free of dust and dirt on the surface. Less frequently, perform a deeper clean with a damp cloth and a mild soap: it’s important to avoid using any harsh chemicals, as these can damage the wood. For particularly stubborn dirt, gently use a soft brush. After cleaning, dry your solid wood kitchen furniture thoroughly to prevent any water damage.
After a deep clean, we recommend applying a hard wax oil. All of our furniture is finished with this protective, water-repellent product, and we suggest this is reapplied at least every six months. This quick drying blend of natural oils and waxes offers exceptional durability, especially when followed by an application of a polishing wax.
Other ways of ensuring your reclaimed wood kitchen furniture lasts as long as possible include:
- The avoidance of direct sunlight or heat sources such as fireplaces and radiators where possible - these can cause the wood to warp
- The use of coasters to prevent water stains from forming on the surface of the wood
- Keeping your furniture in a stable environment - wood expands and contracts based on the level of humidity or the temperature
Every few years, it’s a good idea to re-oil or re-wax your reclaimed wood kitchen furniture entirely to keep the wood nourished and sealed. The original protective layer will naturally wear down as you use the furniture, and you’ll find redoing this process will give it a new lease of life.
